Espacio Memoria y Derechos Humanos ex ESMA

The Memory and Human Rights Space occupies a 17-hectare complex with exhibitions documenting Argentina's military dictatorship period from 1976 to 1983.

The former Navy School of Mechanics building served as a detention center where approximately 5,000 people were held during the military regime.

The museum presents permanent exhibitions based on testimonies from survivors, legal proceedings, and historical documents that detail the systematic human rights violations.

Visitors can take self-guided tours or join guided visits on weekends at 11:00 and 14:00, with audio guides available in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

In September 2023, UNESCO designated the ESMA Memory Site Museum as a World Heritage site, recognizing its role in preserving historical memory.
