Torre Banco Macro, Modern office building in Catalinas Norte, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Torre Banco Macro is a glass and steel office tower in Puerto Madero, a modern neighborhood of Buenos Aires, rising around 28 floors above street level. The building sits among other office towers in the financial area of the Argentine capital and follows a contemporary architectural style.
The tower was designed by César Pelli, an Argentine architect known internationally for his work on the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur. It was built during the period when Buenos Aires was transforming the Puerto Madero waterfront into a modern business district.
Torre Banco Macro serves as the headquarters of one of Argentina's largest banks, giving the tower a strong presence in the Puerto Madero business area. The glass facade reflects the surrounding buildings and shifts in appearance depending on the light and hour of the day.
The building is in Puerto Madero, a neighborhood that is easy to reach on foot from the city center and served by several bus lines. As it is a private office building, access is generally limited to staff and visitors with appointments.
César Pelli was born in the Argentine province of Tucumán and studied in Buenos Aires before emigrating to the United States, where he became internationally known. Torre Banco Macro is one of the few cases where this world-renowned architect built in his home country.
