Edificio el Planeta, Art Deco building in Atlántida, Uruguay

The structure features a ship-like design with three levels representing decks and a semicircular lookout point functioning as the command bridge.

Italian entrepreneur Natalio Michelizzi commissioned the construction of El Planeta Palace Hotel, which opened its doors in 1937 and operated until 1958.

This architectural design represents the maritime influence in Uruguayan coastal architecture, incorporating nautical elements throughout its distinctive structure.

Located at the intersection of Rambla and Calle 22, the building offers direct access to the beach and stands as a reference point in Atlántida.

The original design included plans for a water-filled moat surrounding the building to create the illusion of boarding a ship.
