The Montevideo Uruguay Temple features modern architecture with a single spire topped by a statue of angel Moroni and white granite exterior walls.
The temple was dedicated on March 18, 2001 by Gordon B. Hinckley, becoming the first temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Uruguay.
The temple serves 73,000 members across 15 stakes, 6 districts, and 2 missions throughout Uruguay, offering endowment ceremonies in multiple languages.
The temple, located at Bolonia 1722 in Carrasco, maintains an arrival center for changing clothes and provides baptistry garments at no cost.
During the pre-dedication open house, President Jorge Batlle visited among 25,000 guests, marking significant governmental recognition for the religious institution.
