Juan B. Castagnino Fine Arts Museum, Art museum in Parque de la Independencia, Rosario, Argentina
Juan B. Castagnino Museum is an art museum located in Parque de la Independencia at the corner of Oroño Boulevard and Pellegrini Avenue. The building spans two floors with approximately 35 exhibition rooms providing ample space for displaying artworks.
The museum was founded in 1937 when Rosa Tiscornia de Castagnino donated it to the city of Rosario in memory of her son Juan Bautista. It has served as a repository for important artworks from the region since its opening.
The collection spans European masters from the 15th to 20th centuries alongside Argentine artists, particularly those connected to Rosario. Walking through the galleries, you see how art history and local creative traditions are woven together here.
Public transportation provides convenient access to the museum, with several bus lines serving the area. The location within the park makes orientation straightforward and allows visitors to explore the surroundings.
In 2004, a significant portion of the collection was transferred to establish the new Museum of Contemporary Art of Rosario. This division allowed the institution to better showcase art across different periods.
