Catedral Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Valle, Catholic basilica cathedral in San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca, Argentina
The cathedral features a central nave measuring 58.5 meters in length, with two lateral towers framing the main entrance and a 42-meter high dome.
Construction of the cathedral began in 1859 under Italian architects Carlos Tenivella and Natalio Balloca, with Luis Caravatti completing the project in 1875.
The cathedral holds dedicated spaces for worship, including the Camarin chamber for silent prayer and the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament inaugurated in 2019.
Visitors can explore the marble mosaic floors with geometric patterns throughout the cathedral and examine the German-made stained glass windows.
The ceiling paintings in the central vault depict various events related to the Virgin of the Valley, commissioned by Bishop Carlos Hanlon in 1941.
