Cathedral of the Incarnation, Encarnación

The Cathedral of the Incarnation is a religious structure in Encarnación featuring neo-Gothic and neo-Romanesque architectural details, along with expansive stained glass windows that cast colored light through the central nave. The interior layout follows a traditional church design with a main altar area and side chapels for prayer.

The original church building stood at Plaza de Armas starting in 1718, before the current structure was inaugurated in 1938. This new building replaced the older one and became an important religious landmark for the city.

The Cathedral of the Incarnation serves as the spiritual center of Encarnación, where local residents gather for weddings, baptisms, and important religious celebrations throughout the year. People meet here to mark significant moments in their lives and to participate in community worship.

The building received specialized lighting during Paraguay's Bicentennial celebrations, which highlights its architectural features during evening hours. This lighting design makes the exterior and interior particularly visible after sunset and creates a different perspective on the structure.
