Santa Rita, Agricultural district in Alto Paraná, Paraguay.
Santa Rita is a district in Alto Paraná in southern Paraguay that spans both rural and urban areas. It lies about 70 kilometers south of Ciudad del Este and is divided into multiple neighborhoods that blend farming land with residential zones.
The settlement began in 1973 when a German immigrant named Osvino Schneider established a community there. It gained official status as a district through legislation passed in 1989.
The name comes from Saint Rita, and the place shows strong traces of its German-Brazilian heritage in how people live and build their homes. Walking through town, you notice this influence in the architecture and in how the community is organized.
The main highway PY02 connects the district to Asunción and links its different neighborhoods. Having a vehicle is helpful because the neighborhoods are spread out and getting around the area works better with transportation.
Every year the district hosts a large agricultural fair that draws thousands of visitors and establishes it as an important center for farming business in the region. This event shows how much farming matters to the local economy and community identity.
