Mariscal Lopez Shopping, shopping center in Asunción, Paraguay
Mariscal Lopez Shopping is a large retail center in the heart of Asunción, with several floors of stores around wide indoor corridors. The space also includes a food court, open seating areas, and an office tower attached to one side.
The shopping center opened in 1996 and expanded in 2016 with more retail space and stores. Around 2020, the owners began removing walls and adding outdoor gathering areas to make the block more open for pedestrians.
Every Tuesday, local farmers set up the Agroshopping market inside or beside the mall, selling fresh fruits, vegetables, and other produce directly to shoppers. This weekly gathering brings a neighborhood market feel into a modern retail setting.
The building is easy to walk through thanks to clear signs and level floors, and most areas are accessible to visitors with reduced mobility. A covered parking area makes arriving by car simple, and the central location also works well for short stops.
The attached Atlas Center office tower has seven floors of workspaces above the shops, so workers can go from a meeting to a movie or a meal without leaving the property. The mall also keeps its parking capacity above one thousand covered spots, which is uncommon in this dense part of town.
