Punata Province

The province extends over 850 square kilometers of land at an elevation of 3,114 meters, containing five municipalities with Punata city as its capital point.

The Punata-Tiraque irrigation system, established in 1970, transformed the agricultural capabilities of the region through structured water management and reservoir construction.

The population includes 21,255 Quechua speakers who maintain their traditional farming methods, social practices, and community gatherings throughout the municipalities.

Every Tuesday, the central market in Punata city draws farmers and merchants from surrounding areas to trade agricultural products and local merchandise.

The alluvial fan formation, fed by Rio Paracaya, creates specific conditions for crop cultivation, supporting 4,000 farming families across small-scale agricultural plots.
