Iguazú National Park, Natural reserve with waterfalls in Misiones, Argentina.
The national park spans 677 square kilometers containing 250 waterfalls along the Iguazu River, forming a distinctive U-shaped border with Brazil.
The park territory was inhabited by hunter-gatherers of the Eldoradense culture 10,000 years ago before the arrival of Guarani people and European colonizers.
UNESCO designated Iguazu National Park as a World Heritage Site in 1984, recognizing its natural significance alongside its Brazilian counterpart across the river.
The ecological train system uses electric locomotives to transport visitors through different sections of the park while minimizing environmental impact.
The park houses rare species including the harpy eagle, vinaceous amazon, jaguars, and the yacare caiman within its subtropical forest ecosystem.
