São Pelegrino's church

São Pelegrino's Church is a stone building in Caxias do Sul designed with classical proportions and substantial interior decoration. The space contains bronze doors, religious artworks, and extensive painted scenes covering the walls and ceilings.

Construction started in 1944 based on architect Vitorino Zani's design and the building was formally opened in 1953. The artistic program developed over the following years as the interior took its final form.

The interior displays biblical scenes painted across the walls, telling stories of faith through visual art that visitors can observe as they move through the space. These depictions form part of the religious expression found within the building.

The building is open to visitors daily and allows time to explore the interior at a leisurely pace. Keep in mind that this is an active worship space, so visiting during service times may affect your experience.

Inside the building stands a replica of Michelangelo's Pietà that arrived as a papal gift from Rome. The space also holds a facsimile of the Shroud of Turin.
