Balsa Nova

Balsa Nova is a municipality in Paraná situated at an elevation of approximately 865 meters and bordered by neighboring towns including Lapa, Araucária, and Campo Largo. The area features a blend of rural landscapes and modest urban centers that serve as the everyday setting for around 13,000 residents.

The area began as a settlement in 1702 centered around a religious chapel that marked the early Christian colonization of the region. The name Balsa Nova emerged later following the construction of a ferry crossing in the 1890s, reflecting how this transport link shaped the community's growth.

The Capela de Nossa Senhora da Conceição stands as a symbol of the community's deep Catholic roots and the craftsmanship of earlier generations. Local residents still regard this chapel as a spiritual center that connects them to their family heritage.
