Basilica of the Most Blessed Sacrament, São Paulo

Nossa Senhora da Conceição da Santa Ifigênia is a Neo-Romanesque church located in downtown São Paulo featuring soaring arches and detailed stonework on its exterior. Inside, a monumental organ, stained glass windows, and ornate artistic decorations fill the spaces with visual richness.

The church was constructed between 1904 and 1913, replacing an earlier chapel from 1720 that stood at the same location. Its design draws from both Neo-Romanesque and Gothic Revival styles, reflecting architectural trends of its era.

The church served as the city's temporary cathedral from 1930 to 1954 while the main cathedral was under construction. It remains an important gathering place for worship and reflection in the heart of downtown.

The church is located on Rua Santa Ifigênia in the downtown area and is easy to find on foot. Regular services are held daily, and visitors can enter freely to explore the interior at their own pace.

Austrian architect Johann Lorenz Madein designed the building with an unusual blend of Neo-Romanesque forms and Gothic details. This architectural combination sets it apart from other churches in the city and gives it distinctive character.
