Unibes Cultural, Cultural center in São Paulo, Brazil

Unibes Cultural is a cultural center in São Paulo organized across multiple floors with dedicated spaces for exhibitions, performances, workshops, and community events. The layout allows exhibitions and educational activities to happen alongside artistic presentations.

The institution began in the 1960s as the Instituto de Cultura Hebraica de São Paulo, teaching Hebrew; in 1964 it became the Casa de Cultura de Israel, with Leon Feffer as first president. Its current building, designed by Roberto Loeb and built over eight years, opened in April 2003 as the Centro da Cultura Judaica. After closing in 2014, it reopened in 2016 as Unibes Cultural.

The building's form alludes to the parchment of the Torah, and the institution grew out of the Casa de Cultura de Israel, founded in 1964 with the support of the Israeli embassy. Its programme centres on contemporary philosophy alongside lectures, courses and concerts, and it has hosted an exhibition on Anne Frank's diary (2003) and works by Marc Chagall (2008).

The center is located near public transportation and maintains regular operating hours for visitors. Groups can arrange tours to learn about current exhibitions, and information desks help visitors find out about upcoming events and programs.

The center integrates educational workshops directly with artistic exhibitions, allowing visitors to both participate in hands-on classes and observe cultural presentations in the same space. This combination of learning and artistic experience sets it apart from traditional exhibition halls.
