Palacio Consistorial de La Paz is a three-story administrative building at Plaza Murillo featuring white stone walls and tall windows facing the central plaza. The structure displays eclectic architectural features that combine various stylistic directions in its design.

The Palacio Consistorial was designed in 1925 by Emilio Villanueva Peñaranda after a fire destroyed the previous municipal offices. It was inaugurated on 16 July 1926, during La Paz's civic festivities, and blessed by the council. In 2014 the Escuela Taller de La Paz restored the central hall, imperial stairs, second-floor corridor, entrance doors, floor and ceiling to their original design.

The palace reflects local governance traditions and shows European design elements blended with Bolivian building practices. Visitors can observe this mixture of influences in the facade details and interior spaces.

The building sits at about 3,650 meters elevation and is reached directly at Plaza Murillo, where other administrative buildings are also located. Visitors should be aware of the high altitude, which can affect physical exertion.

The building underwent comprehensive restoration in 2014 to preserve its original architectural details and secure structures from the early 20th century. These efforts made the palace an important example of successful heritage preservation in Bolivian architecture.
