Nova Xavantina, Agricultural municipality in Mato Grosso, Brazil
Nova Xavantina is a municipality in central Brazil composed of rivers, forests, and agricultural fields situated at around 275 meters elevation. It functions as the administrative center where public services and community facilities operate for the local population.
Vila da Xavantina and Nova Brasilia settlements were established in 1944 by the Roncador-Xingu Expedition as part of efforts to open up the region. The two settlements merged in 1980 to form the municipality as it exists today.
The local university serves as an educational hub drawing students from surrounding areas to study and develop professional skills. It has become woven into the community's identity as a place where young people pursue their futures.
The municipality is accessible by road and offers basic accommodations and dining options for visitors. The best time to visit is during the dry season when road conditions are most favorable for travel.
A bridge over the Rio das Mortes completed in 1971 connects the northern and southern sections and opened new agricultural lands. This infrastructure made it possible to develop areas that were previously difficult to reach from the town center.
