Águas Claras, Administrative region in Federal District, Brazil.
Águas Claras is a modern residential district in the Federal District with multiple high-rise buildings connected by four metro stations. The neighborhood spreads across a large area and is organized through wide pedestrian walkways and green spaces that run between the housing complexes.
The area was established by law in 1992 as part of a separation from Taguatinga and became an independent administrative region in 2003. Rapid development transformed it into one of the city's fastest-growing residential neighborhoods.
The neighborhood was one of Brazil's first deliberately designed for compact living, where residents occupy modern high-rises built closely together. Today, people meet regularly at local markets and in the lively pedestrian areas connecting the residential towers.
The neighborhood is easily reached by metro and has multiple bus stops for getting around both inside and outside the area. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes since walking between buildings and services is necessary to explore the district.
The area was planned from the start with modern standards for pedestrian circulation, setting it apart from older neighborhoods. This forward planning made it Brazil's first major high-density residential development of this kind with such infrastructure.
