Farol da Barra, Maritime lighthouse at Barra district in Salvador, Brazil

The 22-meter lighthouse, situated at the entrance of All Saints Bay, guides vessels with alternating white and red light signals visible from 38 nautical miles.

Built in 1839 within Santo Antonio da Barra Fort, this structure replaced the original 1698 lighthouse, making it the first recorded lighthouse in the American continent.

The Nautical Museum inside the lighthouse displays maritime artifacts, ship models, and underwater treasures recovered from the Brazilian coast over three centuries.

The lighthouse and museum welcome visitors from Tuesday to Sunday between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM, with different entrance fees for locals and international tourists.

The lighthouse stands at the exact location where a tragic shipwreck of the Santissimo Sacramento galleon in 1668 led to the construction of the first signal tower.
