Remanso

Remanso is a municipality in northeastern Brazil, located in the state of Bahia. The town sits in a region characterized by semi-arid landscapes and serves as an important settlement in the interior of the state.

The municipality was relocated in 1974 due to the construction of the Sobradinho Dam, which submerged the original settlement. This major relocation reshaped how the community rebuilt itself and adapted to its new location.

The municipality hosts a grand micareta celebration that mirrors Brazilian Carnival traditions, drawing millions of participants to the festivities each year.

The climate here is dry and warm, with temperatures typically high throughout much of the year. Plan your visit during the cooler months if possible, and bring plenty of water when exploring the area.

The location is part of a conservation corridor that has protected the local environment since 2006. This designation makes the area an important zone for preserving natural ecosystems in the region.
