Academia Paraibana de Letras, Language regulator institution in João Pessoa, Brazil
The Academia Paraibana de Letras operates from a heritage-listed building in downtown João Pessoa, maintaining Portuguese language standards in Paraíba state.
Founded on September 14, 1941, by Professor Coriolano de Medeiros, the institution started with 11 chairs and expanded to 40 positions by 1959.
The academy organizes monthly literary meetings, book launches, and educational programs to support Portuguese language development in the region.
Located on Duque de Caxias Street, the institution maintains a library registered with the National Book Institute and hosts public events on the last Friday of each month.
The building houses the Augusto dos Anjos Memorial, dedicated to one of Brazil's most influential poets who lived in this former residence.
