Parque da Jaqueira, Urban park in Recife, Brazil.
Parque da Jaqueira is a green space in the Jaqueira neighborhood of Recife, Brazil, featuring shaded walkways, open lawns, and sports facilities spread across a large area. The grounds are divided into distinct zones for walking, running, and outdoor exercise, all connected by paved paths.
The land was originally private property and was turned into a public park in the early 20th century as Recife expanded northward. Over time, the city added paths, sports areas, and plantings that shaped the park into what it is today.
People from different parts of Recife come here daily for walks, light exercise, and socializing, making it one of the most visited green spaces in the city. On weekends, the park fills with families, joggers, and groups of friends who treat it as a shared outdoor living room.
The park is open daily from early morning to late evening, and visiting in the morning is a good idea since the heat builds up through the day. Restrooms and drinking water are available on site, and there is parking nearby for those arriving by car.
The park takes its name from the jaqueira tree, a tropical fruit tree that grows throughout the grounds and provides much of the shade along the paths. These trees produce jackfruit directly on their trunks rather than on the outer branches, which often surprises first-time visitors.
