Thuli Parks and Wildlife Land

Thuli Parks and Wildlife Land, Protected area and river system in southwestern Zimbabwe.

Thuli Parks and Wildlife Land is a protected area along the western bank of the Shashe River, featuring scrubland with Mopane and Combretum bush. The landscape spans hundreds of square kilometers and forms an important natural space in this region.

The area was established as a controlled hunting zone in 1958 and received official status as Thuli Safari Area in 1975. This development brought multiple wildlife reserves under a single protection framework.

Fort Tuli, located within the protected area, was an early European settlement built to monitor river crossings. The site continues to shape how visitors understand the region's past.

The site requires four-wheel drive vehicles to visit and is reached via the main entrance across the river. The visitor area includes camping facilities at the park management headquarters.

The area contains a preserved volcanic caldera that researchers discovered and spans several kilometers across. This geological formation is a rare feature in this landscape.
