Supa Ngwao Museum

Supa Ngwao Museum is housed in a century-old Government Camp building and occupies three exhibition sections. The spaces display historical items, crafted goods, photographs, and musical instruments that document the region's past.

The museum started as a mobile collection in 1986 and found its permanent home in the building in 1992. This location connected the institution's mission with the heritage of the site itself.

The collections display photographs, tools, and crafted items that reflect the daily life of Kalanga people in northern Botswana. These objects show how communities worked, created, and lived in this region.

The museum operates on a donation basis and visitors can book guided walking tours of Francistown with advance notice of 24 hours. The exhibitions are modest in size, making a visit manageable in a few hours.

The museum building formerly housed a police prison, so parts of the exhibition space once served as holding cells. This unusual backdrop adds an extra historical layer to the visit that extends beyond the regular displays.
