Liberty Monument, Independence memorial in Victoria, Seychelles
The Liberty Monument features bronze figures of a man and woman holding the national flag above their heads, representing national independence and unity.
Unveiled by President James Michel on June 29, 2014, this monument replaced the 1978 Zonm Lib statue during the celebration of 38 years of independence.
The monument serves as a central gathering place on June 5th, when citizens and officials lay wreaths and flowers to commemorate national independence.
Visitors can reach the monument by walking east from Victoria Clock Tower along Independence Avenue and taking the third exit at the roundabout.
The bronze sculpture was cast at the Bronze Age Foundry in Cape Town, South Africa, following the designs of artist Tom Bowers.
