Ciracas, Administrative district in East Jakarta, Indonesia
Ciracas is an administrative district in East Jakarta that encompasses five administrative villages: Cibubur, Kelapa Dua Wetan, Ciracas, Susukan, and Rambutan. The area is organized through a network of local administrative centers that serve each village and coordinate district-wide functions.
The district was created in 1991 when the neighboring area of Pasar Rebo was divided into two separate administrative regions. This reorganization marked the beginning of Ciracas as an independent administrative entity with its own governance structure.
Universities and higher education institutions shape the character of this area as centers of learning and activity. The presence of students and faculty creates a youthful energy that influences daily life and community interactions throughout the district.
The Kampung Rambutan Bus Terminal serves as the main transportation hub for traveling between this district and other parts of Jakarta. From this central point, buses offer connections to various neighborhoods and help visitors orient themselves within the wider city.
The district's name comes from the Ciracas River, which flows through the administrative villages of Rambutan and Ciracas. This waterway shapes the landscape and naturally connects different parts of the area.
