Jakarta Aquarium

Jakarta Aquarium is a large indoor facility housing thousands of marine species in interconnected tanks and exhibits. The tanks are designed to recreate natural ocean environments, showing different zones from coral reefs to deeper waters.

The aquarium opened in 2018 as a collaboration between Taman Safari Indonesia and Aquaria KLCC from Malaysia. This partnership brought together different expertise to create the facility.

The aquarium runs daily programs that teach visitors about ocean conservation and why marine environments matter. These sessions help people understand their connection to the sea and the creatures living in it.

Visit during late morning or early afternoon for fewer crowds and to see animals more active in their tanks. Wear comfortable shoes since you will walk through several halls and connecting passages to see all areas.

You can walk through a tunnel surrounded by river otters swimming above and around you in the water. This is one of the most memorable moments that stays with visitors long after they leave.
