President University, Private university in Cikarang, Indonesia
President University is a private college in Central Cikarang within Bekasi Regency, about 25 miles (40 kilometers) east of Jakarta. The campus sits within Jababeka Education Park and includes several teaching buildings, labs, and dormitories for students.
The institution began in 2001 as Sekolah Tinggi Teknik Cikarang, a technical college, and received official university status in 2004. Utomo Josodirdjo led the founding to provide technical education in the industrial region of Jababeka.
The name refers to President Joko Widodo, whose government supported the growth of technical colleges in Greater Jakarta. Students use the library and common rooms daily for group work and lectures, often in multilingual teams.
The campus is accessible by private car or taxi from central Jakarta in roughly an hour, depending on traffic. Visitors should check in at reception, as entry is controlled for non-members.
All students must complete a four-month internship, often taking place in nearby factories and corporate centers within the Jababeka zone. Free English courses are offered in addition to the regular curriculum to support international communication.
