Pantai Widarapayung, Beach in Binangun, Indonesia

Pantai Widarapayung stretches along the coast of Widarapayung Village in Binangun, Cilacap Regency, about 35 km east of Cilacap. Its shoreline is very gently sloping and lined with coconut palms, with pale tan sand meeting a band of wet dark sand where surf breaks. The beach area is not large, and the water is used for surfing rather than calm swimming.

The beach was severely damaged by a tsunami in 2006, which led to major reconstruction work by the regional government. Recovery efforts transformed it into the accessible destination it is today.

Widarapayung hosted the 2009 Raimuna Daerah scout gathering for all of Central Java, and in 2010 the national Widarapayung Surf Contest, drawing athletes from Indonesia and abroad. Visitors still see the tsunami memorial monument erected after the 2006 Pangandaran disaster, and can watch beach volleyball and horse riding alongside the surf.

The beach lies about 35 km east of Cilacap in Widarapayung Village, Binangun Sub-district, Cilacap Regency. An asphalt road links it with Ketapang Indah Beach in Sidaurip and Karang Pakis Beach in Karang Pakis. A SAR post is stationed here for visitor safety, and the site is busiest on Sundays, national holidays and during Lebaran.

The site features five permanent swimming pools separate from the ocean, which are particularly useful for families and practicing swimming skills. These pools offer a calmer water environment independent of tides and wave conditions.
