Green Canyon, Natural canyon in Pangandaran, Indonesia.
Green Canyon is a canyon in Pangandaran where the Cijulang River flows over about three kilometers, cutting through limestone cliffs covered in dense vegetation. Multiple caves form along the water course, shaping the landscape of this formation.
A French explorer named this formation Green Canyon in 1993, while the Sundanese traditionally called it Cukang Taneuh. This difference between the foreign and local names shows how the area has been perceived by different cultures over time.
The rock formations and water passages hold deep spiritual meaning for local communities as places of inner reflection. The Sundanese people know the location by its traditional name Cukang Taneuh, which means "Bridge of Earth."
Visitors must rent paddle boats from Ciseureuh Dock to reach the canyon, with trips operating from morning through late afternoon. It is advisable to arrive early to have plenty of time for exploration.
The area offers body rafting experiences through different sections, allowing participants to swim and navigate through narrow water passages between rock formations. This type of exploration enables direct contact with the natural formations and caves.

The island of Java showcases an exceptional heritage blending spiritual traditions and natural wonders. The temples of Prambanan and Candi Mendut attest to the grandeur of 9th-century Hindu and Buddhist civilizations, while the Candi Sewu complex reveals sacred architecture organized according to mandala principles. Active volcanoes like Mount Bromo and Kawah Ijen offer striking landscapes, from the smoking crater dominating the black sand plain to turquoise lakes where miners still extract sulfur. Javanese cities combine tradition and modernity: Jakarta features the National Monument on Merdeka Square, Bandung houses the Geology Museum founded in 1928, and Malang surprises with Kampung Biru, whose houses are entirely painted blue. The Seribu Islands extend this diversity into the Java Sea with their coral reefs, while floating markets like in Lembang maintain age-old trading practices. This array of sites invites exploration of Indonesia’s deep spirit, between spirituality, volcanic nature, and human ingenuity.
