Cikampek–Purwakarta–Padalarang Toll Road, Toll road connecting Cikampek, Purwakarta, and Padalarang in West Java, Indonesia.
The Cipularang toll road is an 88-kilometer connection spanning West Java that winds through hilly terrain with several bridges and numerous curves. The route climbs and descends significantly, passing through forested mountain regions along its full length.
The project started in 1989 to address growing traffic needs between West Javanese cities. Initial sections opened in 1992, and later phases expanded the route to complete the full connection.
The name Cipularang comes from combining the opening syllables of the three regions it connects: Cikampek, Purwakarta, and Padalarang. This naming style reflects how the road became a named route linking these communities together.
Several rest stops line the route with gas stations, restaurants, shops, and ATMs where travelers can stop and refresh. Driving through mountain curves requires attention, so it is wise to take a break after long stretches of driving.
On remote mountain sections, street lights run on solar panels, showing how renewable energy powers road safety in areas with limited electrical grid access. This solution allows safe nighttime driving even in regions far from central power connections.
