Red-White Bridge

The Red-White Bridge spans Ambon Bay for approximately 1140 meters, featuring two tall towers connected by steel cables that support the roadway above. The structure creates a direct connection between the two shores, replacing a longer circular route around the water.

The bridge opened in 2016 and became a major turning point in eastern Indonesia's infrastructure development. It was built to fulfill the need for faster connections and improved mobility across Ambon Bay.

The bridge carries the colors of Indonesia's national flag, symbolizing togetherness among different communities after past tensions in the region. Crossing it, you experience the bay from a unique vantage point that was previously not available by road.

You can cross on foot or by car, with the drive taking about fifteen minutes to complete. The route is significantly shorter than the former path that circled the entire bay.

The structure was specially designed to withstand earthquakes, which happen regularly in this geologically active region. This required unique engineering solutions during planning and construction to ensure long-term safety.
