Deep Creek Conservation Park, Conservation park on Fleurieu Peninsula, South Australia
Deep Creek Conservation Park is a conservation area on the Fleurieu Peninsula covering roughly 4,500 hectares of land. The park spreads across stringybark forests, coastal ridges, and deep valleys that slope down toward the Southern Ocean.
The park was established in 1971 to protect the native vegetation and coastal landscapes of the Fleurieu Peninsula. Its creation was part of broader efforts to conserve this ecologically important region.
The park territory holds importance for Aboriginal communities who maintained connections with this land through generations of traditional management practices.
The park has five campgrounds, with most sites accessible by standard vehicles while others require different access arrangements. Visitors should prepare for changeable coastal weather and bring sturdy footwear for walking the trails.
The park has around 15 walking trails, many offering views across Backstairs Passage toward Kangaroo Island. From June through October, visitors can spot migrating whales from several of these paths.
