Media Resource Centre, Film production facility in Adelaide, Australia
The Media Resource Centre is a film production facility within Adelaide's Lion Arts Centre, housing two cinemas: one with 186 seats and a smaller Iris Cinema with 36 seats. The facility provides professional equipment rentals, post-production spaces, and editing suites for filmmakers.
The facility was founded in 1974 as part of the Screen Development Australia network and relocated to its current location in 1992, with Queen Elizabeth II. officially opening it. This move established it as a major production and screening center in South Australia.
The center screens independent films and hosts annual awards recognizing achievements of the regional film community. It has become a gathering place where filmmakers and art enthusiasts discover new works and connect with each other.
Visitors should inquire at the center about booking the available equipment and facilities in advance, as everything requires prior arrangement. Both cinemas are housed in the same building, making it easy to move between screenings and other events.
The Production Initiative Program offers selected filmmaker teams an 11-month development period and financial support for feature film creation. This program allows artists to realize their projects from conception through completion.
