Gleniffer Brae, Heritage-listed manor in Keiraville, New South Wales, Australia.
Gleniffer Brae is a single-story brick manor with sandstone trims and a steeply pitched multi-gabled roof. The exterior displays Tudor arches with diamond-patterned windows that run across the facade, giving the residence its distinctive character.
Sidney Hoskins, founder of the Port Kembla steelworks, commissioned architect Geoffrey D. Loveridge to build this Tudor Revival residence between 1937 and 1939. The house was constructed during a period of industrial growth and prosperity in the region.
The name comes from a village near Paisley in Scotland and reflects family heritage. The land holds deep significance for the Dharawal Aboriginal people.
The property is home to the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music, which offers music education programs in the preserved sections of the manor. Visitors should check current access times, as these may vary depending on conservatory activities.
Paul Sorensen designed the extensive gardens surrounding the manor, blending native plants with elaborate ornamental features. This landscaping work is one of the property's most overlooked aspects and deserves attention.
