Dixon Peak, Mountain summit in Mackenzie District, New Zealand
Dixon Peak rises to 3004 meters in elevation within Aoraki Mount Cook National Park, standing as the 23rd highest mountain in New Zealand.
Mountaineer Noel Brodrick named the peak after Marmaduke Dixon, a respected climber who contributed to New Zealand's alpine activities from 1862 to 1918.
The mountain serves as a training ground for climbers preparing to tackle the neighboring peak of Aoraki Mount Cook, New Zealand's highest mountain.
Climbers reach the summit through the East Ridge route, which requires proper snow and ice climbing equipment along with careful weather monitoring.
The peak maintains a prominence of 55 meters and stands distinctly from another Mount Dixon located 100 kilometers northeast near Harper Pass.
