Narrabri Post Office and former Telegraph Office, Telegraph station in Narrabri, Australia.

Narrabri Post Office and former Telegraph Office is a brick building featuring a single-story design with six distinctive arches running across its front facade along Maitland Street. Behind the main structure stands an L-shaped section that once housed residential quarters for postal workers.

Construction began in 1888 under the direction of architect James Barnet, who designed it to serve both postal and telegraph functions for the region. A major expansion in 1914 modified the facade and increased its capacity to meet the growing needs of the community.

The post office became the central hub where residents gathered not just for mail, but also to share news and stay connected to the wider world. Its prominent position on Maitland Street reflected its importance to daily life in the growing town.

The building sits directly on Maitland Street and is easy to locate from the street with its striking arched facade clearly visible to passersby. Visitors can examine the exterior details from the public sidewalk without needing special access to appreciate its architectural design.

The front stucco surface displays an engraved date plaque reading 1888, positioned between the second and third arches as a permanent record of the building's origin. This carved detail is a rare feature that directly marks the construction era without relying on separate monuments or plaques.
