Tusculum, Potts Point, Heritage site and former residence in Potts Point, Australia
The stone building at Manning Street features Regency architectural elements, including Ionic colonnades and classical windows overlooking Sydney Harbor.
Scottish merchant Alexander Brodie Spark commissioned architect John Verge to design Tusculum, which was constructed between 1831 and 1837.
The first Anglican Bishop of Australia, William Broughton, resided at Tusculum from 1836 to 1851, establishing it as a center for religious gatherings.
The New South Wales Chapter of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects maintains the building through a 99-year lease for professional events.
The property name derives from an ancient Roman town in the Alban Hills, selected by Spark to reflect the grand residential nature of the estate.
