Featherdale Wildlife Park, Wildlife park in Doonside, Australia
Featherdale Wildlife Park is a zoo with over 2000 native Australian animals from about 260 species, including koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, and Tasmanian devils. The facility spreads across several areas where each animal type has its own space to live and roam.
The site was established in 1972 by Charles and Marjorie Wigg on their former poultry farm, beginning as a plant nursery for Australian trees. Over time it developed into a complete wildlife facility with living animals.
The park shares knowledge about Australian animals and their habitats through regular demonstrations and educational programs available to all visitors. You learn how wildlife protection shapes the future of these species.
The park is open daily for visitors and offers wheelchair accessibility with pathways easy to walk. Wear comfortable shoes and plan several hours to explore the different animal areas at a relaxed pace.
You can meet young wombats here and feed little penguins, an unforgettable experience for most visitors. Direct encounters with animals like this are not available in every zoo.
