Turrawan, Heritage-listed house in Clayfield, Brisbane, Australia.

Turrawan is a residential house in Brisbane with a steeply pitched hipped roof, timber frame, and multiple projecting bays topped by extensive verandahs. The interior layout keeps the living spaces separate from the medical consultation rooms.

Built in 1906 for Dr Arthur Charles Frederick Halford, the house functioned as both a private residence and medical practice from its beginning. This combination of personal and professional use was typical of medical properties from that era.

The building shows how medical professionals in early Queensland communities combined their homes with surgeries, keeping both functions visible in the same space.

The property sits on London Road in a residential neighborhood and can be viewed from the street to appreciate its exterior architecture. The location makes it straightforward to find and observe the building's details.

The house was designed by architect Robin Dods and displays his trademark features such as vertical tongue and groove boards and detailed joinery throughout the interior. These crafted details are signatures of his building style from that period.
