Gallery of Modern Art, Modern art museum in South Bank, Brisbane, Australia

The Gallery of Modern Art is a contemporary art museum located in South Bank that displays works by Australian and international artists. The building contains multiple exhibition areas where visitors can view paintings, sculptures, photographs, and other artistic mediums on rotating display.

In July 2002, Sydney firm Architectus won an architecture competition commissioned by the Beattie government to design a second site for the Queensland Art Gallery. The Gallery of Modern Art opened on 2 December 2006 at Kurilpa Point, built for about 107 million dollars, and received the 2007 RAIA National Award for Public Architecture.

GOMA shares the Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art with the Queensland Art Gallery; the 5th edition ran from 2 December 2006, the day the building opened, to 27 May 2007. The 10th edition was held from 4 December 2021 to 25 April 2022. Works by artists such as Ai Weiwei and Nam June Paik have entered the collection through these exhibitions.

The building sits in South Bank, a cultural precinct that is easy to reach by public transport or car with nearby parking available. The courtyard and outdoor terraces provide spots to rest between exhibition viewings and are pleasant places to spend time when weather permits.

Inside the building operates the Australian Cinémathèque, a dedicated cinema facility for moving-image work that exists nowhere else within an Australian art museum. This rare combination allows visitors to experience contemporary film and video art alongside traditional art forms in a single location.
