Wailua Valley State Wayside Park, State park overlook on Hana Highway, Maui, United States.
Wailua Valley State Wayside Park has wooden observation platforms with views of waterfalls, farm fields, and the Pacific Ocean in eastern Maui. The platforms let you see multiple waterfalls at once as they drop down the steep valley walls.
The park sits on the Hana Highway, built in the early 1900s to connect isolated communities in eastern Maui with the rest of the island. The road opened this remote region to broader access and trade for the first time.
The valley below shows old taro fields that reveal how people have grown plants here for a long time and cared for the land in traditional ways.
The park is at Mile Marker 18.9 on Hana Highway and has three parking spaces, including one for disabled visitors. It helps to visit early in the day to avoid crowds and enjoy the views more quietly.
From this viewpoint visitors can see two different waterfalls, Waikani Falls and Wailele Falls, dropping down the valley walls at the same time. This rare chance to capture two waterfalls in one view makes the spot popular with photographers.
