Papailoa Beach

Papailoa Beach extends along a white sandy shoreline with clear waters, bordered by a shallow reef that lines the coastline.

Two determined wave riders in the late 1950s named the offshore surf spot Himalayas after experiencing what they considered the highest waves at that time.

The beach gained recognition as a filming location for the television series Lost, which transformed this secluded shore into a notable North Shore destination.

Visitors can access the beach through a marked public entrance near Papa'iloa Road's west end, though the location does not provide lifeguards or facilities.

The beachfront features a natural lava shelf that creates elevated viewpoints for observing the Pacific Ocean and winter surf conditions.
