The six million acre protected area contains North America's highest mountain, reaching an elevation of 20,310 feet above sea level.
The area became Mount McKinley National Park in 1917 through Charles Alexander Sheldon's conservation efforts, and expanded to include additional lands in 1980.
The name Denali originates from Koyukon Athabascan Native Americans, who named the mountain based on their word for 'the tall one'.
Visitors can access the park through a single 92-mile road, with most sections restricted to authorized buses during the summer season.
The park houses active sled dog kennels, maintaining a century-old tradition of using canine patrols for winter operations and visitor education.
