Jardín Botánico Culiacán, Botanical garden in Culiacán, Mexico
The Jardín Botánico Culiacán is a botanical garden containing approximately 1,000 plant species from around the world arranged in 17 distinct collections. The site also allows visitors to observe over 200 animal species and roughly 146 bird species in their natural habitat.
The garden was established as a scientific and educational institution dedicated to preserving plant diversity and making it accessible to the public. The facility gained national recognition in 2007 for its work as a leading institution of its kind in Mexico.
The site serves as a community gathering space for outdoor film screenings and education programs held among the trees and plants. These events bring together people who want to enjoy nature and learning in an open environment.
The best time to visit is early morning when animals are more active and the sun is less intense. The grounds are quite spacious, so comfortable walking shoes are essential and you should allow plenty of time to explore the different sections.
The Mexican palm collection is exceptionally large, holding a substantial portion of all palm species found throughout Mexico. This specialization makes the garden a significant center for research and conservation of this plant group.
