Mirador Cerro de Gallego

Mirador Cerro de Gallego is a viewpoint located in Urique Canyon that overlooks the valley, its river, and surrounding mountain ranges. The site offers sightlines across multiple layers of the canyon landscape, with views extending deep into the terrain.

This region has been influenced by missionary work since 1679, when Jesuit priests established their presence among Raramuri communities. The mission activities shaped settlement patterns and cultural development across the canyon area over centuries.

The area hosts the annual Caballo Blanco Ultra Marathon in February, where international runners compete alongside native Raramuri athletes.

The viewpoint is accessible via forest roads and has parking areas and restrooms for visitors. Sturdy footwear and adequate clothing are important for safe walking on the pathways.

The viewing platform features a glass-floor extension and suspension bridges that extend over the deepest canyon in the Copper Canyon system.
