Roman Catholic Territorial Prelature of El Salto

The Roman Catholic Territorial Prelature of El Salto spans across 36,010 square kilometers in the Mexican state of Durango, serving over 370,000 residents.

Established on June 10, 1968, the prelature emerged from territories previously belonging to the Diocese of Mazatlán and several municipalities of the Archdiocese of Durango.

The Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe functions as the central religious building for fifteen parishes that provide services to the Catholic community.

The administrative headquarters are located at Monsignor Francisco Medina 382, Colony Alvaro Obregón, maintaining communication and coordination among the parishes.

Statistical records indicate that between 1970 and 2022, Catholic adherents in this prelature consistently represented between 85 to 100 percent of the local population.
