Griffith Observatory, Astronomical observatory in Mount Hollywood, Los Angeles, United States.

The Griffith Observatory sits at 300 meters elevation on Mount Hollywood's southern slope, featuring a 12-inch Zeiss refracting telescope and multiple exhibition halls.

Griffith J. Griffith donated 3,015 acres of land to Los Angeles in 1896 and provided funds in his will to construct this Art Deco observatory.

The observatory maintains a public planetarium schedule with daily programs in the Samuel Oschin Planetarium, presenting astronomical discoveries to general audiences.

Free general admission allows visitors to explore exhibits, while separate fees apply for planetarium shows and parking in designated observatory lots.

Over nine million people have observed celestial objects through the main telescope, establishing it as the most frequently used public telescope worldwide.
