Ennis House, Textile block house in Los Feliz, United States.
The Ennis House is a residence in the Los Feliz neighborhood of the United States, made from interlocking concrete blocks. Both structures extend across a footprint of approximately 6,200 square feet (576 square meters), surrounded by a paved courtyard.
Frank Lloyd Wright designed the building in 1923 for the couple Charles and Mabel Ennis. His son Lloyd Wright supervised the completion of the construction, which finished the following year.
The name comes from Charles and Mabel Ennis, who commissioned the residence and lived here overlooking the city. The concrete blocks carry patterns that recall pre-Columbian art and give the building a bold face.
The property includes a main building and a chauffeur apartment connected by a courtyard. The site sits on a hillside and offers views of the surroundings from several points.
The outer walls appear in many films, including Blade Runner and House on Haunted Hill. These appearances made the building a recognizable setting for moviegoers around the world.
