Chateau Elysee

Chateau Elysee is a seven-story building in French-Norman style located on Franklin Avenue in Los Angeles. The structure features formal gardens, a moat, and various spaces distributed across multiple floors that serve different purposes today.

The building was constructed in 1927 by architect Arthur E. Harvey and originally served as a luxury apartment house for film industry figures. By the mid-20th century, the structure underwent significant changes in its use and occupancy.

The building reflects the elegance of the Art Deco era, blending French and British design influences throughout its spaces. Visitors can observe the ornate decorative details and tall windows that defined luxury apartments of this period.

The building houses multiple facilities today, including a hotel and a cultural center on different floors. Access and availability depend on which section you wish to visit and the operating status of each area.

The interior was designed by interior designer Marjorie Requa, combining stylistic elements from the Louis XIV era with British influences throughout. This unusual blend of European design references makes the spaces particularly interesting upon closer inspection.
